Project Officer – Rewilding Denmarkfield
Location: Luncarty, Perthshire, Scotland
Contract: 2 days per week
Salary: £15 - £17.75 per hour depending on experience
Closing date: Midnight Sunday 22nd March
Interviews: Friday 27th March
The Role
As Project Officer, you will take the lead role in coordinating and delivering ecological monitoring and practical land management activities across the Denmarkfield site. This is a hands‑on, varied position suited to someone who thrives in both fieldwork and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the ecological monitoring programmes, including bumblebee, butterfly species surveys, and long‑term data collection.
Training new staff members and volunteers in monitoring methods, land management, and rewilding principles.
Oversee practical land‑management activities, such as conservation grazing, wetland creation, grassland restoration, invasive species control, and natural process interventions.
Coordinate contractors and volunteers involved in on‑site works.
Maintain accurate project documentation, monitoring records and budgets.
Contribute to interpretation, outreach, and engagement activities, helping to share the story and impact of rewilding at Denmarkfield.
Work closely with the team to ensure smooth, efficient project delivery.
About You:
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in conservation, ecology, land management, or a related environmental field.
Competence in ecological survey methods and data handling.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work outdoors in variable conditions and undertake practical tasks.
Desirable
A degree in ecology, conservation, environmental science, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of rewilding principles and nature‑based solutions.
Experience coordinating staff, volunteers or contractors.
Experience in searching and applying for funding opportunities
Experience in animal husbandry / livestock care
Ability to confidently identify at least the eight most common bumblebee species and common butterfly species in Scotland.
GIS skills or familiarity with digital mapping tools.
Experience in data analysis and report writing
Live locally to the site.
A full UK driving licence.
